Local facts with their boundaries attached
Alderley Edge rendering area guide | Local evidence
Alderley Edge is both an everyday place name and an area represented in official datasets. Those boundaries are not interchangeable. A housing table, council conservation register and contractor's working area answer different questions. This guide explains the evidence used on the site and the nearby names included in the coverage selection, so that a statistic about one geography is not passed off as a measurement of another.

The housing figures describe households
The published Census 2021 table for Alderley Edge built-up area records 32.5% detached, 25.8% semi-detached, 16.9% terraced and 24.7% flat or maisonette accommodation. The observation date is 21 March 2021 and the statistical boundary is the ONS built-up area. These are household accommodation categories; they do not identify the wall material or the number of properties needing rendering.
A block containing several households can require different ownership and access arrangements from an individual home. That is a practical enquiry consideration, not a conclusion about the town's building condition. The commercial and shared-building guide discusses package responsibilities where more than one occupier or managing party is involved.

Keep building-age context at council scale
The VOA 2026 Council Tax release describes Cheshire East's domestic-property stock at 31 March 2026. Its published pre-1900 and 1900–1918 counts total 33,860 out of 192,820 properties, about 17.6%; 430 have unknown build age. These are rounded council-wide counts. They are not an Alderley Edge percentage and are not the same measure as Census households.
Age alone cannot select a render product. The actual wall may have later additions and repairs, so a lime-render assessment or a modern system proposal must follow the construction encountered. The statistics provide context; the survey supplies the information needed for a specification.
Heritage entries are specific, not town-wide labels
The retained spatial research identifies 37 unique listed-building designation points within the Alderley Edge BUA, using the 29 October 2026 NHLE snapshot and December 2022 boundary. A designation entry is not necessarily one house. Cheshire East separately names Alderley Edge, Davey Lane, Elm Grove and Trafford Road conservation areas in its register.
Use the council's map and relevant designation information for an individual address. A postcode or nearby conservation-area name cannot settle whether the proposed work requires consent. Nor does living outside a named area prove that there are no other constraints. The source links below lead to the underlying records rather than a fabricated local permissions checklist.
Nearby places and enquiries
The additional-location list is derived from official OS names within 20 km of a main site reference point, with distinct settlement housing or named council heritage evidence. For this site the allocation is kept separate from the town's main statistics. A nearby village does not inherit Alderley Edge's household percentages simply because it appears on the same page.
When making an enquiry, provide the actual postcode, the elevations involved and practical access information. The rendering overview links the available service routes, including smaller wall projects and repairs. Confirm the intended work, access requirements and available dates with the contractor before making arrangements for the property.
